Collaboration and strategic alliances

Proteomics International has several research partners involved in on-going R&D activities.
Centre for Food and Genomic Medicine

The Centre for Food and Genomic Medicine (CFGM), based at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research, is a world-class research facility set up primarily to tackle the twin epidemics of diabetes and obesity, known as "diabesity". The Centre, established with funding from the Government of Western Australia, brings together the biotechnology, agriculture and food technology sectors to investigate new ways of helping to beat these growing health conditions.   Proteomics International is a core partner.

Western Australian Institute of Medical Research (WAIMR)

This Institution is an Australian leader in adult medical research investigating the genetic and environmental causes of a range of diseases including cancer, diabetes, molecular endocrinology, molecular genetics and neurotrauma. Recent funding to this institution was AUD$240 million.   Proteomics International operates its main laboratory at the WAIMR facilities in Perth.

National University of Singapore (Department of Anatomy, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine)

The Venom and Toxin Research Group (VTRG) at NUS was formed in 1985 to promote multidisciplinary research collaboration. Headed by Prof Gopalakrishnakone, a world renowned venoms expert, the group studies the mechanisms of venom secretion and the structure of venom glands of venomous animals and isolates, and characterizes toxins, screening for novel biological activities.  The research undertaken by the group has received recognition by the International Society of Toxinology and the World Health Organisation (International Programme on Chemical Safety).  Proteomics International has been working actively with the VTRG and has jointly published work in academic journals.

University of Western Australia (School of Biomedical, Biomolecular and Chemical Sciences)

The School encompasses the disciplines of biochemistry and molecular biology, chemistry , microbiology and immunology and physiology.  As well as teaching and research functions, the school also includes the ARC Centre of Excellence for Plant Energy Biology, The Marshall Centre for Infectious Disease, and the Centre for Strategic Nano-fabrication.  Proteomics International has a long association with the school and  operates one of its laboratories in the state of the art Molecular and Chemical Sciences Building at the Crawley Campus.

Australian Proteomics Computational Facility

The Australian Proteomics Computational Facility provides a single advanced computing cluster accessible to scientists at proteomics centres all over the country. This integrated approach to proteomics computing and the sharing of databases put Australia at the forefront of the world's efforts to identify the proteins associated with the early detection of our major diseases. Proteomics International is a major user of the facility, and its Managing Director, Dr Richard Lipscombe is a member of its management committee.

Centre For Comparative Genomics

The WA Centre of Excellence in Comparative Genomics (CCG) represents a unique approach to research in Comparative Genomics. It draws together both biomedical and agricultural genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics activities and expertise, creating shared understanding within and across fields of study. Proteomics International is a core commercial partner.
